I always try to do some research before making
any sizable purchase and with the Hoover
Steamvac F5914-900 it was no different. I
read reviews on Walmart and Amazon and the
F5914-900 tanked high on both of them. I
took the plunge and purchased one and after
I used it for the first time I could see
why it had so many glowing 5-star reviews.
I first used it on a 12 year-old carpet that
had moderate use. I followed the manual
doing 2 "wet" swipes followed by
2 "dry" swipes and then, once the
carpet was cleaned, I vacuumed it thoroughly.
The results were amazing. The
carpet's color is bright and the texture
is soft - it really looks like a new carpet.
My husband didn't spend more than 10
minutes, using only a Phillips screwdriver,
to assemble the F5914-900.
The manual is very clear and concise. It
gives you everything you need to know how
to clean carpets/rugs, upholstery and even
hard floors. It is not recommended
for wood floors though.
One minor "con" - it is very noisy
- it doesn't bother me as I think the
louder noise is because of the powerfully
cleaning but if you are noise sensitive,
you might want to consider protecting your
ears while using it.
